Surgery is never a solo act.
At the Cromwell Hospital and the Cadogan Clinic, Mr Anwar operates with an experienced theatre team around him. Anaesthetists, scrub nurses and recovery staff who do this work day in, day out, so the people in the room are as practised as the surgeon leading it.
It is also where newer technique reaches his patients. He has brought procedures such as balloon sinoplasty and endoscopic approaches into routine use, choosing the method that suits the problem rather than the other way round.

A consultant’s post since 2017.
Mr Anwar holds his NHS post at Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust, with clinics and operating across West Middlesex University Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. His NHS list covers both adult and paediatric ENT, with a sub-specialty interest in rhinology, allergy, nasal surgery and endoscopic sinus surgery.
Since taking up the post he has worked to bring newer techniques into the department, including balloon sinoplasty and endoscopic ear surgery, and is helping to establish advanced nasal reconstruction services and a joint voice clinic at the trust.
Teaches the next generation of ENT surgeons.
Mr Anwar has organised no less than 11 Bart’s FESS and rhinoplasty courses, head and neck dissection courses, and a temporal bone dissection course. He also helped to set up the Bart’s “Introduction to ENT” course for junior doctors considering the specialty.
He is also a regular speaker at international meetings, among them the EAFPS, IFOS in Dubai, the congress of the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Societies, and IMRHIS, the International Meeting of Rhinoplasty Societies.

Work that does not show up on a CV.
